About Anonymous Peasant

The Project

Des Donnelly's work, presented as it wants to be found — not in order, but in conversation with itself. Des is an Irish poet and technologist based in County Tyrone, Ireland. This minimalist platform gathers thirty years of creative output across poetry, essays and philosophical reflection.

The name Anonymous Peasant is a deliberate provocation. The peasant is the figure who works the field without appearing in the history books — present in every era, named in none. The anonymous is the condition of most human experience: felt deeply, recorded rarely. This archive attempts to give that condition a form.

The Content

The archive spans three decades of creative work:

The Technology

This site is a flat HTML archive, built from plain text and published directly. There is no database, no algorithm, no tracking. The simplicity is deliberate: the content should outlast any framework.

It is hosted on Google Cloud Run, serving static files. It is curated and published directly, without intermediary systems.

The Philosophy

Each piece in the archive is curated, not generated. The work is written in English — the particular English of County Tyrone, carrying the residue of Irish and the cadence of the North. It may move through a handful of words in Irish, French, Spanish, Russian and Greek, and arrive occasionally at the one register that crosses every border without a passport. The multilingual gesture is not a claim to fluency. It is an acknowledgement that certain things only exist in the language they were first felt in — and that even a few words in another tongue changes the angle at which you see your own. К победе, товарищ крестьянин!
